On 27 April 2007, two new NSW government Departments were formed – the Department of Water and Energy and Department of Environment and Climate Change.
These agencies have taken on responsibilities of the former Department of Natural Resources and the former Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability. Management of Western Lands has been transferred from Department of Natural Resources to the Department of Lands.
Information formerly held on this website has been transferred to other NSW government agency sites.
The Department of Environment and Climate Change has information relating to:
- NSW natural resources, including vegetation and soils
- Sustainable consumption, resource use and waste management
- Coasts, estuaries and floodplain management
- Water pollution
- Environmental water purchases for NSW Government.
- Climate change
The Department of Water and Energy has information relating to:
- Water management, including water policy, water sharing plans, water availability and allocations, monitoring, modelling, environmental flows, ecology and water quality
- Water licensing, approvals and trading
- Urban water, including metropolitan and country town water
- Energy, including policy, information for energy customers, electricity, gas and sustainable energy.
