Management Issues

This estuary falls in the area covered by Northern Rivers Catchment Management Authority.

Corindi River

Current Situation

The former Pristine Waters Council formed a combined Coastal/Estuary Management Committee to prepare management plans for its estuaries including Corindi River prior to its amalgamation into Clarence Valley Council in 2004. The Corindi River Estuary Management Plan was completed in March 1999.

Boundary changes under the amalgamation have placed Corindi River under Coffs Harbour City Council. In 2003 just prior to amalgamation, Pristine Waters Council accepted a 50% grant from the NSW Estuary Management Program for the continued implementation of the Corindi River Estuary Management Plan. Coffs Harbour City Council EMC is currently preparing an implementation strategy based on the management plan.
