Physical Features

The village of Sandon is located south of the entrance. The approximate length of the main arm of the river is 15 km. The mean spring tidal range of 1.34 m at the entrance is attenuated to 0.94 m at the junction of Candole Creek, approximately 5.3 km upstream.
