Water Sharing Plans
Under the Water Management Act 2000, the Department can prepare a range of statutory water management plans covering aspects such as water sharing, water use, drainage management and floodplain management. To date the focus has been on developing water sharing plans in order to protect water for the environment while also securing the rights of water users, such as towns, farmers, industry and irrigators.
